Welcome to McKiernan's Irish Cafe and Gift Shop, a charming café tucked away at Lindenstraße 1, 48712 Gescher, Germany. If you're searching for a delightful escape that transports you straight to the heart of Ireland, look no further. This cozy cafe is not just a place to eat; it’s a haven where the essence of Irish culture mingles with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a quaint decor that reflects the rich charm of Ireland. The warm colors, rustic furniture, and delightful decor create an ambiance that feels like home. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet moment with a book. Customers rave about the cozy atmosphere, with one visitor, Heike Gronewold, describing it as "a very cozy little Irish cafe" that reminded her of Ireland.

Now let’s talk about the stars of the show—the food. McKiernan’s menu features an array of homemade delights that will tantalize your taste buds. Start your day with a sumptuous breakfast that includes self-made marmalade (your choice of strawberry or mango) paired with original Irish self-made bread, fluffy pancakes, and delectable scones. Customer Nadine was delighted by the delicious breakfast offerings and expressed her eagerness to return.

For those looking to indulge in something sweet, the café boasts a selection of exceptional cakes that pair beautifully with their expertly brewed cappuccinos. It’s not every day you find an Italian who appreciates a good cappuccino outside of Italy, but that’s exactly what Alessandro Moruzzi found at McKiernan's. He praised the “very good cappuccino” and the friendly service he received, emphasizing how different this place felt compared to the average cafes in the area.

Furthermore, McKiernan's is more than just a café; it’s a destination for whisky lovers too. The cafe features a thoughtful selection of whiskies that beckons to be explored during your visit. Charles Gescher shared that his family visited the café twice during their stay in Gescher, underscoring the exceptional quality of everything they tasted and the genuine delight brought by the owner’s personal touch.

In a sea of ordinary cafés, McKiernan's Irish Cafe and Gift Shop defines what it means to offer something unique. The owners pour their heart and soul into every dish, and it shows in the smiles of satisfied customers who recount their experiences with fondness. Totaly different style compared to avarage ...same style...boring...places in this area. Warm ambient, simple and nice menù, we have been in the afternoon, we got very good capuccino (i'm italian..and i can say..not easy to get here) very good cakes, friendly service. I've noticed that there is very good selection of whisky. For sure we will come back to try and enjoy thei products, i'm only sad that is opening at 9 and i cannot enjoy the breakfast :-)

My family and I visited Gescher and went to McKiernan’s cafe twice. The couple who owns this cafe are lovely and excellent at what they do. Everything was delicious!

Best breakfast and coffee in town. Love the eggs Benedict, pancakes are freshly made and the scones cant even describe with words because they're so good. Great sauces and teas in the gift shop and they have Guinness and more. I can imagine when the irish beef comes in that bacon cheeseburgers and irish steaks would be a joy outdoors. Next to the bell museum, which is amazing and historical. Don't pass this place if you're on the A 31 autobahn heading north or south. Great friendly service.
